Decks of Distinction embarked on a grand venture in St. Albert with a substantial budget of $20,000. Within a firm two-week period, the task was to construct a multi-level deck using composite materials, equipped with features to provide shade and privacy, as well as incorporating glass for an unobstructed view.
The project presented a trio of challenges: to create sufficient shade and privacy for the homeowners, incorporate an unobstructed view with glass, and execute a multi-level design that flows naturally with the home's existing architecture. Balancing these requirements within the set timeline and budget was key.
The design included multiple levels to define separate spaces and accommodate the slope of the backyard. The team chose high-quality composite decking for its durability and aesthetic appeal. For the railing, aluminum with glass inserts was selected to provide security without sacrificing the view. A pergola with glass was innovatively designed to offer shade and maintain an open, airy feel.
Decks of Distinction executed the build with precision, focusing on the seamless integration of each level. The aluminum and glass railings were installed to maximize visibility, while the pergola was strategically positioned to cast shade without overwhelming the space.
